The Challenge

England – Day One & Two - 01 & 02 August
The challenge starts in Newcastle, England, with a two-day run along the length of Hadrian’s Wall.
Stage 1 – Day 1 (78km), follows the line of Hadrian's Wall from Wallsend (Newcastle) and through to Thirwall Castle (Greenhead).
Stage 2 – Day 2 (36km), starts at Thirlwall Castle (Greenhead) and continues from east to west along Hadrian’s Wall, before finishing the England leg of the challenge Sheepmount Athletics Stadium in Carlisle.
Scotland – Day Three and Four - 03 & 04 August
Following an overnight road transfer from England to Scotland, Stage 3 – Day 3 (75km) runs west to east from Dumbarton on the west coast of Scotland, to Grangemouth. The route traces the line of the former Roman border defence, the Antonine Wall.
Stage 4 – Day 4 (38km) continues along the Antonine Wall, via a point-to-point route, from Grangemouth to Cramond Kirk. This completes the final stage of the Scottish leg of the challenge.
Day 5 (05 August) is a travel day and will provide time to travel from Edinburgh to Craven Arms on the border between England and Wales.
Wales – Day Six - 06 August
Stage 5 – Day 6 (78km) – The big one. The second longest and final stage of the challenge runs from east to west across mid Wales. The route passes through rural farmland before climbing to the highest point of the run, with stunning views across Nant-y-moch reservoir. The later stage of the route winds its way past lakes, woodlands and through valleys before descending to the finish point at the beach in Aberystwyth, Wales.
